Project
Julian, a civil rights and international human rights non-profit organization, needed to premiere a website to gain momentum to support victims and survivors of hate crimes. It was important for Julian to have a unique presence, embodying the future of civil rights while also paying tribute to the past.
Challenges
The challenge was designing a narrative web experience that imbued sincerity and tragedy, but also hope for the future.
Moodboard And
Brand Prism
I dove deep with the client to get a full understanding of what JULIAN was and how JULIAN wanted to communicate their story. I chose deep tones to express sincerity and high contrasted images to evoke drama. The burgundy symbolized passion, green for revitalization, and gold for powerfulness. I chose vintage photo texture to symbolize the past and dirt to symbolize how the truth must be unburied.
Results
We successfully premiered the JULIAN brand and launched the website which ultimately led to $1m+ in donations and investments. The articles from the site also fostered recognition which led to re-opening cold cases to bring justice to the victims and their families. JULIAN continues to fight for civil rights and international human rights.
